What this site is
Picton Restaurants is a directory: 34 cafes, restaurants, pubs, bakeries and takeaways in Picton and Waikawa, each with a fact sheet — opening hours, whether it’s open right now, what it serves, services such as takeaway or bookings, dietary options where the venue states them, contact details, links, and the walk from the ferry. You can search it, filter it and see it on a map.
It is independent. It isn’t paid for by any venue, and it has no advertising. No venue pays to be listed or to be placed higher, and nothing is ranked. Featured listings are shown in a block on the front page and first in the categories they fit, always tagged “Featured”.

How the listings are researched
Each venue’s details come from its own published information. For opening hours the order is: the venue’s Google Business Profile, then a recent announcement from the business, then its website, then its Facebook or Instagram, then reputable local sources. Where sources disagree, the listing records which one we used and why. Where nothing reliable exists, the hours are left blank and the page says “Hours may vary — check with the venue before visiting”. We don’t fill gaps with typical or likely hours.
Every listing shows the date its hours were last checked. We aim to recheck hours at least every 90 days; anything older is flagged on the venue page as possibly out of date. Venues that close stay on file with a “permanently closed” note and drop out of the lists.

Photos and drawings
Photographs of the town are freely licensed pictures from Wikimedia Commons, credited where they appear and on the credits page. A photo is only shown beside a venue if it is a photo of that venue — its own supplied photo, or a dated, licensed photo of the premises. Otherwise the card shows a category drawing.
